Our History

Reuven International comes from humble beginnings.  Our company is named after Reuven (Irving) Handelman who came to Canada from Russia in the early 1920's as a small child.  The family survived by establishing a poultry shop in Toronto’s Kensington Market.  The commitment Reuven International has to customer service was developed long ago in that shop when Irving and his brothers began delivering chicken and turkey to customers in the Annex and Forest Hill Village by bicycle.

After Irving’s sudden passing in 1982, his son-in-law Paul Stott stepped in to carry on the business.  Over the next 40 years Paul turned a small family run business into a company with global reach sourcing poultry products from four continents for customers all across Canada.  Paul was a respected leader in the Canadian poultry industry and an active participant in regulatory issues impacting the industry.  Paul’s integrity, sense of fairness, and compassion are values that continue to guide the company’s relationship with all its stakeholders including its customers, suppliers, and employees.

Reuven International is proud to remain a family owned and operated business and build on the legacies established by both Paul and Irving.
