Beef Picadillo

Ingredients

 

 

 

 

1 lb (454 g) Reuven Fully Cooked Lean Ground Beef (Product Code B03737), frozen
2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil
1 medium large yellow onion, diced
1/2 cup (125 ml) green peas
2 carrots, chopped in cubes
4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1/2 bell pepper, diced
1 tbsp (15 ml) ground cumin
3 small potatoes, diced
3/4 cup (180 ml) dry white wine
3 tbsp (45 ml) capers, drained
1 tsp (5 ml) fresh sage, finely chopped
16 oz (475 ml) tomato sauce
Salt and pepper to taste

 

 
 

Preparation Instructions

 

In a medium-size frying pan, brown the Reuven Fully Cooked Lean Ground Beef for a few minutes with a dash of cumin and pepper, remove from pan with a slotted spoon.


Heat olive oil over med-low heat and cook the diced onion until soft. Add the chopped garlic and cook until almost golden.


Mix in the bell pepper, potatoes and carrots and cook for about 5 minutes.


Add the ground beef, sage and wine, let the liquid reduce over medium heat for 5-6 minutes.


Add tomato sauce, peas and capers. 


Continue cooking over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are ready.
